What Is Delta 8 THC?
Delta 8 THC is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in cannabis plants. The cannabinoid interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system and produces a mild, calming high. However, the compound is much less psychoactive than its counterpart Delta 9. Usually, when people refer to THC, they’re talking about Delta 9 THC. This cannabinoid is the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis that produces an intoxicating, high feeling.Â
What is the difference between Delta 8 and Delta 9?
At first glance, Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC seem to be very similar as they’re both psychoactive compounds found in cannabis plants. But there are a few key differences that have a profound impact. The two compounds have different chemical structures and produce effects of varying intensities. While both can give users a high, the effects of Delta 9 are much more intense than the milder high you’d get from Delta 8. Additionally, the two cannabinoids have different legal statuses in the US.
Is Delta 8 Legal?
If Delta 8 THC is so similar to Delta 9 and can produce a mild high, you may be wondering how it can be legal. It all has to do with the wording of the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized hemp production in the US. Though the two cannabinoids are found in both marijuana and hemp plants, hemp is bred to contain less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC. The bill, however, makes no mention of Delta 8 THC. So, if Delta 8 is derived from hemp that contains federally allowed levels of Delta 9 THC, it may be perfectly legal. That said, some states have restrictions on Delta 8. Before trying out a Delta 8 THC moonrock, be sure to review the laws in your area.
What Is CBG Kief?
Cannabis plants are covered in crystal-like trichomes. These are resinous glands full of terpenes and compounds like CBD and CBG. CBG is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. When the trichomes dry out and fall off the plant, they become kief. The powdery substance is essentially a more potent, concentrated form of CBG, terpenes, and other cannabinoids. You can sprinkle kief on flower, smoke it on its own, or use it to make moon rocks.
